11-9-18

Key: SCHAFF: “When the Lord open his mouth, we should open our ears and hearts”

HEAVENLY FOCUS AS OPPOSED TO WORLDLY MINDEDNESS continues Matt. 6:19-24… 2

Those things not seen are eternal. These treasures in heaven are the only true treasures. 1Pet. 1:3-4. These treasures are pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. When we leave this world, we go away to the real sources of our happiness, and we find them as durable as eternity.

  1. ‘Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…” continues
    1. Human beings as a treasure continues. Offer yourself to the Lord. 2Cor. 4:7; 8:5, Rom. 12:1-4, Phil. 2:3-11.
      1. The choice is yours to live for Christ or for the world. A life in the flesh or in the spirit. Live for the gospel of Christ or for the secular world, heaven or hell. Rut. 1:11-18, 2Kg. 7:3-11, Lk. 15:11-16, 17-22, Rom. 7:19-24, Phil. 3:7-16, 17-20. May God help you to make the best choice.
      2. Our choice is rooted on who or what we love most. Ex. 32:26, 1Kg. 18:21. Ruth Bell left her home in China for schooling in Korea, with plans to spend her life as an unmarried missionary to Tibet. Apparently the thought of a husband had entered her mind, she set a list of qualifications. She said inter alia, “If I marry: He must be so tall that when he is on his knees, he reaches all the way to heaven. His shoulders must be broad enough to bear the burdens of a family. His love must be so deep it takes its stand in Christ and so wide it takes the whole world in. He must be active enough for souls.” She found her man in late Billy Graham.
      3. It is wisdom to, give what you cannot keep to gain what you cannot loose. Serving God through our profession. Acts. 18:3. there is the need for professionals in the ministry: Builders, computer specialists, schoolteachers, medical personnel, and others in the ministry.
      4. Lydia left a legacy that shall never fade. A great legacy to unborn millions who will one day walk in her steps. Her home became the base of operations for a missionary thrust that would expand across Europe. Little could she imagine that as the first convert of Europe, her ministry to these men would open an entire continent to the gospel Acts. 16:9-15, 3Jn. 5-8, 2Kg. 4:8-11.
      5. Giving ourselves to hospitality. Act. 21:8-12, 1Tim. 5:10, Heb. 13:2, 1Pet. 4:8-9. She used her resources and her life to the Lord to create values that outlast her. She used her simplest gifts to offer the first support to missions. Mission societies have been formed which has led many souls to Christ through the inspiration of this simple and honest woman.
  2. It continues.
