WHEN SHALL THESE THINGS BE? WHAT SHALL BE THE SIGNS OF THY COMING AND THE END OF THE WORLD? Matt. 24:3-13, Mk. 13:3-13, Lk. 21:7-19, 20-24…4 

THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION …1. Matt. 24:15, Dan. 9:27.

In our previous study, we saw three different desolations of the temple spoken in the book of Daniel, one was fulfilled by Antiochus in 167 B.C. Dan. 8:13-14, 23-25; 11:31; 12:11-12, the second in Dan. 9:26 desolation of the sanctuary after the ‘cutting off’ of the Messiah which was fulfilled in A.D. 70 along with the destruction of Jerusalem, and the yet to be fulfilled will be by  “the prince that shall come” Dan. 9:26 whose people (Rome) destroyed the temple in A.D 70 will make a covenant with the Jews for one week=7years Dan 9:27.

  1. The rule will last only for seven years; the first 3 1/2 years of peace with Israel, and the last three and half years, he will break covenant. Dan. 9:27, and the abomination of desolation. Matt.24:15, Dan.7:8, 20, Rev.11:1-2; 13:1, 4-6, 2 Thess.2:3-4, 13-14. He will speak blasphemes. Rev. 13:5-6, Dan. 7:20, 25; 11:36
  2. Who is this desolator? The preferred Christ of the Jews. Jn. 5:43.
  3. An Emperor over the world as an Empire. Rev. 13:3.The head healed. i. e. restored. The beast “…one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed…” Rev. 13:3. Rev. C. I. Scofield says “Fragments of the ancient Roman empire have never ceased to exist as separate kingdoms. It was the imperial form of government which ceased; the one head wounded to death. What we have prophetically in Rev. 13:3 is the restoration of the imperial form as such, though over the federated empire of ten kingdoms; the “head” is “healed” i.e. restored; there is an emperor again- the Beast.” He will rule the world through the federated 10 kingdoms Rev. 13:7-8, 16-17; 17:12-17.
  4. He is like a leopard, a symbol of the Grecian Empire Rev. 13:2; 17:3, Dan. 7:6, has the feet of a bear, a symbol of Media-Persia Dan. 7:5 and has the mouth of lion, a symbol of Babylon Dan. 7:4
  5. What power will he have? Dan. 8:24; 11:38-39, 2Theess. 2:8-12, Rev. 13:1-2, 4. The spirit of “the bottomless pit” will be Satan’s agent dominating the Antichrist. Re. 11:7; 17:8. He is satanically energised, Rev. 13: 2, 4 and he will understands mysteries. Dan. 8:23.
  6. His image to be worshipped by men. Rev. 13: 3-4, 8, 12, 15-16; 14:9-11; 16:2.
  7. He will have miraculous powers Rev. 13:2-14; 16:13-16; 19:20, and his image will be given life and will do personal acts. Rev. 13:15
  8. He will have a mark, a name and a number without which no man will buy or sell. Rev. 13:16-18. He will (cause craft to prosper). Dan. 8:25; 11:43, Rev. 13:11-18.  He will be an economic dictator (controls money). Dan. 11:38-43, Rev. 13:16-17
