THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS….2 Matt. 25:14-30

“All our sufferings, all our improvements, all the good we do to others, all we get to ourselves, and they are but few things, next to nothing, not worthy to be compared, not fit to be named the same day with the glory to be revealed.” M.   3. Christ has honor in store for his servants- a crown 2Tim. 4:8, a throne Rev. 3:21, a kingdom matt. 25:34. Here they are like beggars in heaven they shall be rulers Rev. 1:5-6; 5:9-10. The upright shall have dominion. Dan. 7:27. Christ servants are joint heirs and are princes. Rom. 8:17, 2Tim. 2:12
  4. ‘Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord’ “A joy unalloyed by sorrow; a joy which is the reward of faithful service; a joy which consists not in idle resting, but in higher and wider usefulness, and a joy shared with the Lord.’ Broadus John A.
  5. A joy which he had his eyes upon when he endured the cross, and despised the shame. Heb. 12:2, ‘a joy which he himself is the fountain and center. A joy which he himself purchased and provided for the redeemed, bought with the sorrow of the Redeemer.’ Henry.
  6. “A blessed state of joy, not only because all tears shall be wiped away, but all the springs of comfort shall be opened to them, and the fountains of joy broken up. A perfection of holiness, and a society of the blessed.” Henry.
  7. Matt. 25:24-25. “…I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown… And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: …” “The smallness of our receiving will not excuse us from reckoning.  It continues.
