THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS….2 Matt. 25:14-30

We are accountable for what God has given us. The way to get a larger portion is to make wise use of what we have. What we have is far greater than what we don’t have. God has loaded us with all his benefits, ‘blessed with all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus’ Eph. 1:3. “The best reward in eternity will be the ability and opportunity to do grander work for Christ.” Broadus John A.

  1. Matt. 25:19. After a long time the King will come 2Pet. 3:3-9, and we shall all give account of ourselves. Matt. 18:23, Lk. 12:36, 48, Rom. 14:11-12, 1Pet. 4:4-5. It may be long, yet one day ‘the stewards of the manifold grace of God must shortly give account of their stewardship’- Henry 1Cor. 4:1-5.

    a. ‘Their persons were accepted, ‘thou good and faithful servant. Abel was accepted. Gen. 4:4. Our character is the first thing God will commend. Act. 4:36-37. Barnabas was “…a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith…” According to Stephen Olford, the predominant idea in the word “good” is that of moral excellence, … also embodied in the term are such qualities as amiability, kindness of purpose and manner, generosity of spirit and readiness to sacrifice for the good of others.”
    b. Our performance, work or offering will then be accepted ‘well done’. Gen. 4:4. We should be looking up for the Lord commendation, not he who commend himself, or his neighbors commend is approved, but whom the Lord commends.
