Darius’s Decree—Daniel’s Disobedience and Consequent Exposure to the Lions—His Deliverance by God. Dan. 6:1-28

- Dan. 6:6-10. “Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live forever. All the presidents of the kingdom… have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not…Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house…he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.”
- 6:6. The presidents and princes came tumultuously. Ver. 11, Ps. 56:6; 62:3; 64:2–6, Mat. 27:23–25, Lu. 23:23–25, Ac. 22:22-23. It was a shadow of the evil gathering against Christ by the priests and elders in Jerusalem. The one in heaven will laugh them to scorn. Ps. 2:2-4.
