Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream (5) Dan. 2:1-49
“The primary object of the dream was to show Nebuchadnezzar what would befall his kingdom after his death, and to reveal the world empires from then till eternity.” F. J. Dake. To further prove that the only true God is the God of Israel, that he is sovereign over all nations, guiding human affairs, infinite in knowledge and wisdom and reveal the thought of man. “The main part of the vision centers on what shall be in the last days 2:28-45.” F. - Dan. 2:24-25. “Therefore Daniel went into Arioch, whom the king ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon…destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, I will show unto the king the interpretation. Then Arioch brought Daniel before the king….”
- Destroy not the wise men of Babylon. That is, “Stay the execution of the sentence on them. Though they have failed to furnish the interpretation demanded, yet, as it can now be given, there is no occasion for the exercise of this severity.” Barnes Albert. Somebody has stood at the gap. Job. 9:33, 2Thess. 2:7, Ex. 32:9-14, 31-35, Est. 8:3-5, Is. 59:16.
- “I have found a man of the captive of Judah …” Many times in history it has been a despised Jew who has solved the problem of man. Abraham in Gen. 14, Joseph Gen. 40-45, Mordecai Est. 2:21-23, Esther. Esth. 3-8., Jesus Christ. 1Pet. 3:18.
- Dan. 2:26-28. The king answered and said to Daniel…Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen…Daniel answered the king…the secret which the king demanded cannot be made known by the wise men…But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secret, and maketh known to the king what shall be in the latter days.

- But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets. One of the principal objects is to direct his mind to the true God. Gen. 40:8; 41:16, Neh. 2:20. “The God of heaven will prosper us. Ps. 20:7.
