Key: SCHAFF: “When the Lord open his mouth, we should open our ears and hearts”
Reasons for speaking in parables continues. Matt. 13:10-17.
“A parable, like the pillar of cloud and fire, turns a dark side towards Egyptians (Ex. 14:19-20), which confounds them, but a light side towards Israelites, which comforts them, and so answer a double intention. The same light directs the eyes of some, but dazzles the eyes of others now.” M. Henry. Apostle Paul describe preachers of the gospel of Christ as, a sweet savor of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish. “To the one we are the savor of death unto death; and to the other the savor of life unto life.” 2Cor. 2:15-16
- Matt. 13:11 “Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given” continues.
- There are other ‘mysteries in the scriptures: The “mystery of God even Christ”, i. e Christ as the incarnate fullness of the Godhead embodied, in whom all the divine wisdom for man subsists Col. 2:2, 9; 1Cor. 2:7, the mystery of the processes by which godliness is restored to man 1Tim. 3:16, the mystery of Israel’s blindness Rom. 11:25, the mystery of translation of living saints 1Thess. 4:14-17, 1Cor. 15:51-52, the mystery of the Church as the bride Eph. 5:28-32, the mystery of iniquity 2Thess. 2:7, the mystery of the seven stars Rev. 1:20, the mystery of Babylon Rev. 17:5,7.
- “Unto you is given to know” Matt. 11:25-26. A man can receive nothing unless it be given him from above. Jn. 3:27. God is sovereign Dan. 2:20-22; 4:34-35, Rom. 9:18-21, 22-26. He is not a debtor to anyone Rom. 11:35. He gives wisdom and knowledge liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or fault-finding to all men. Jas. 1:5 Amp. God has chosen to give wisdom and understanding to the Gentiles.
- Matt. 13:12 “For whosoever has, to him will more be given and he will be furnished richly so that he will have abundance; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”
- “It is a rule among men, that they will rather entrust their money with those who have increased their estate by their industry, than with those who have diminished them by their slothfulness” M. Henry. Let us look at what Christ said in the Matt. 25:26-30 to the slothful servant. Read the whole story vs 14-30 and you will see the reward for those who have. Job. 17:9, Ps. 84:7, Pro. 4:18, Ps. 92:12.
- Build on the little you are given or make use of what you have, God will enlarge you. 2Sam. 22:27, Is. 54:1-3, 1Kg. 4:29, 1Cro. 4:9-10. God will bless you and enlarge your coast.
