THE PARABLE OF THE LEAVEN…1 Matt. 13:33, Lk. 13:20-21.
“A small bit of leaven, completely hidden from view in the great mass of dough, would finally leaven the whole; and so Christianity with a small and obscure beginnings would pervade the whole race of mankind.” Broadus John a. The leaven is used here in a good sense unlike other places where is a symbol of evil. Let us ask this, can there be only one possible figurative use of an object? The Loin represents Satan, and also the Savior and other examples in the Bible. As stated earlier, the parable of the leaven is the assimilation, diffusion of Christianity through the vast mass of humanity, in an intensive way. This is in line with the objective of Christ in the world as illustrated with other parables of the kingdom.
- Matt. 13:33 “The kingdom of heaven is like unto a leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leaven.” This is gradual diffusion of Christianity.
- Penetrating the whole to establish the worship of “the only one God, the Father, of whom are all things and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ by whom are all things and we by him.” 1Cor. 8:6. Since Babel in Gen. 11, the world has no God Eph. 2:11, Rom. 1:22-25, since there has been many that are called gods and many lords. 1Cor. 8:5. Babel, the city was built on the plain of Shinar, where they attempted to build a “tower” whose top would reach into heavens. Gen. 11:4. Some bible scholars said the tower was to aid their study of the stars, moon and to be able to code the first system of astrology. See Is.47: 12-13. The gospel of Christ has diffused into the world to gradually abolish idolatry. Act. 17:22-41
