Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream (6) Dan. 2:1-49

“We must keep in mind that the dream that was given to Nebuchadnezzar was not for the sake of the Babylonian empire alone. It was for the purpose of bringing comfort to the people of God. God wanted His people to know that he was still sovereign God of the nations” Roger E. Dickson. God is still sovereign and can do as He wills among the nations. There is no power but of God. Rom. 13:1 At times, God has to use unsaved men to carry out certain of His necessary purposes on earth. He was prediction the rise and fall of empires, and later in this book certain international struggles that will take place with the people of god in the land of Israel.

  1. Dan. 2:29. “As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came to thee upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter…”
  2.  “And he that revealed secrets maketh known to thee…”
  3. Dan. 2:30. “The secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for thy sake…”
  4. Dan. 2:31-45 “Thou O king sawest, and behold…” with Dan. 7.
  5. The great image, whose brightness was excellent, the form was terrible.
  6. The head was of fine gold Dan. 2:37-38 and the Lion with eagle wings in Dan. 7:4 is Babylon (605-539 B.C.)
  7. The breast and the arms are of silver Dan. 2:39a and the bear Dan. 7:5 is Medio-persian (539-331 B.C.)
  8. Its belly and thighs of brass Dan. 2:39b and the Leopard Dan. 7:6 is Greek empire. (331-146 B.C.)
  9. Its legs iron Dan. 2:40 and the terrifying fourth beast Dan. 7:7 is Roman Empire (146 B.C.- A.D. 1476 in the west and A.D. 1453 in the East)
  10. Its feet of iron and clay. The feet with ten toes a mixture of iron and clay Dan. 2:41-43 is the future revised Roman Empire. Da. 7:8, 20-25 It should be understood that the old Roman Empire territory will produce these ten powerful kingdoms.
  11. A stone cut out without hands smote the image on the feet breaking them into pieces., becoming like a chaff of the threshing floors and the wind carry them away, and were found no more. Christ the stone.
  12. The stone that smote the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth. The kingdom of God headed by Christ.
