WHEN SHALL THESE THINGS BE? WHAT SHALL BE THE SIGNS OF THY COMING AND THE END OF THE WORLD? Matt. 24:3-13, Mk. 13:3-13, Lk. 21:7-19, 20-24…4

THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS….2 Matt. 25:14-30
We have observed that, the master (the king) is coming back with a kingdom. He has entrusted everybody called, born in His house, bought with His money, devoted to His praise, and employed in His work with something to work with for the work of the ministry, the edifying of the body of Christ, and to bring the Church in to the unity of faith and the knowledge of the Son of God. No one is empty, and the world is expecting something from every member of the household of God “to each according to his ability.” Inequalities in human condition necessarily result from the inequalities in human character and conduct. To have more of property or of talents more than one can manage for God’s glory, would be a burden and not a privilege” Broadus John A.
- Matt. 25:16-17. He handed over eight talents in all, and the servants went straight to work after the departure of their master.
- Two of the servants were wise Prov. 11:30; 19:8; 3:35; 11:17 and knew that they were not doing God a favor; rather, they were doing their duty. Lk. 17:7-10.
- They did the work in love, cheerfully 2Cor. 8:5, 7, Gal. 4:13-15, and they kept on working even when it was not convenient. Jas. 5:17, 2Tim. 2:2, Jn. 9:4.
- They were reliable and knew that promotion Lk. 12:43, Ps. 75:5-7, 1Sam. 2:8 and riches only comes from God Pro. 10:4; 13:4; 12:24, Heb. 11:6.
- “They were successful; the returns were in proportion to the receiving. The greater gifts any have, the more pains they ought to take…” M. Henry
- Much has been given to you and much is expected Lk. 12:42-48.
- You are expected to multiply your talents. Gen. 2:21, 24, 27-28.
- Matt. 25:18. The third servant did ill; he was unfaithful and buried the one talent he had. There could be some with five talents or even more, who are burying their great abilities and great advantages.
- He didn’t value what he had. We should know that our actions or inactions do not change God. Whatever we do or whatever work we are asked to carry out by God, is only for our benefit. Pro. 9:12, see 1Kg. 17:8-116, Pro. 11:24-25, Is. 1:19, Lk. 6:38.
- He was very lazy. Pro. 10:5; 23:21; 6:10-11; 19:15.
